Does Botox Really Work?

Does Botox Really Work

Every clinic and spa offers Botox injections to get rid of facial wrinkles. But it’s important to know what Botox can and, more importantly, what it can’t do.

So, even if a clinic or spa offers Botox injections, that doesn’t mean they are the best way to eliminate all your wrinkles. Today, Skin Savvy Aesthetics is here to guide you more about how botox works — and it is really “that” effective.

Check out this blog post and see the two different kinds of wrinkles on the face: dynamic and static, yep, because each type needs another treatment.

Dynamic Wrinkles

Muscle movement, like when you smile, laugh, or squint, causes dynamic wrinkles. Crow’s feet around your eyes and forehead are two common types of dynamic wrinkles.

Botox uses different kinds of botulinum toxin to stop or slow muscle movement temporarily. It is a good choice for wrinkles that move. It can get rid of wrinkles and make you look younger again.

Static Wrinkles

Static wrinkles happen when your skin loses its elasticity and collagen or when the sun or smoking damage it. As you age, your skin gets thinner and drier, and as you lose volume, the shape of your face changes.

Some providers may suggest Botox for wrinkles that don’t move, but fillers work much better. Fillers lift the skin, eliminate lines and wrinkles, replace lost volume, and make you look younger.

Fillers like Juvederm, which contains hyaluronic acid, are great for fine lines and wrinkles around your mouth. For many people, the best results will come from a mix of Botox and fillers.

Botox and fillers should only be used under the care of a doctor. It’s essential to know that injections are put in the right place.

If you want to use Botox or fillers to make yourself look better, ask your primary care doctor for a referral or look for a doctor who has done these kinds of treatments before.

A skilled doctor with the proper credentials will look at your goals and help you decide which options are best for your health and needs.

Neuromodulators that the FDA has approved are used to soften and relax wrinkles temporarily. Some places you can treat, but not all, are the forehead, frown lines, crow’s feet, brow lift, lip flip, the platysmal band (necklines), and gummy smile.

On average, treatment lasts between 3 and 4 months. 30-64 is a typical full correction. You can get this effective facial at our clinic at $12 per unit.

What is Botox used for?

Botox typically treats wrinkles on the face. But, as we’ve already said, Botox works best on wrinkles from muscle movement, like:

  • Moderate Frown Lines: The 11s that form between your eyebrows when you concentrate or frown.
  • Crow’s feet that are mild to severe: When you smile or squint, fine lines include next to your eyes.
  • Moderate to Severe Forehead Lines: These lines are on your forehead and make your skin furrow and fold.

Does Botox Work On Wrinkles That Are Already There?

Botox is a well-known therapy and way to get rid of facial wrinkles. And if you want to know if Botox works, the answer is Yes.

Again, the primary FDA-approved use of Botox injections is to get away from wrinkles and fine lines on the face, such as laugh lines, crow’s feet, frown lines, etc.

But just because Botox is used to treat wrinkles on the face doesn’t mean it’s good for all wrinkles. Yes, different kinds of wrinkles on the front are also caused by other things.

What Results To Expect?

The full effects of a Botox session can take up to 14 days to show, but you may be able to see them as soon as three days after the treatment.

As Botox starts to freeze the treated areas fully, lines and wrinkles will begin to look less severe. Getting the results you want from Botox may take more than one session.

Depending on how deep your wrinkles are and how much surface area you wish to treat.

What To Expect?

Again, as part of the process, How long the procedure takes depends on how much Botox is used and how many areas are being treated.

It is usually unnecessary to numb or put someone to sleep because the needles are so tiny. Your injector can find the exact spots on your face where an injection is needed so that the process can be quick and almost painless.

If you’re worried about feeling pain or discomfort, tell your provider so that they can use a numbing agent if they need to.

After a Botox treatment, there is no downtime. But you may still feel soreness or swelling around the injection sites, but it’s important not to rub the area to keep the Botox from moving.

Some people find it helpful to use a cold compress, or Tylenol can reduce swelling and pain. Still, any pain usually goes away within 24 hours of treatment.

Look Young Again With Botox

Botox is not a permanent fix but a great way to smooth out wrinkles and stop new ones from appearing. You can also use it safely with other cosmetic treatments like microdermabrasion, dermal fillers, and surgery to make a face look younger.
